Working of OpenPuff Software for hiding and unhiding data

  • First, we take our any confidential file for this process as sample shown below.

  • Open OpenPuff software, we can see interface as below which have many options.

  • Click on hide button which in Steganography field, here we need to enter multiple passwords for multilayer security for hiding. But we have option to enter multiple passwords or single as per our choice.
  • Password must be strong and make sure that after entering passwords, password check field must be green to proceed further. Then we need to add our confidential file to Data field as Target. You can also hide multiple files by making it zip or rar.
  • Once you have selected the target file you need to select one or multiple carriers under carriers selection. Carriers are the files the data gets added to which is of image or any audio or video type. The bytes added to each carrier file are displayed immediately after they have been added.


  • Click on Hide Data button. After that we need to specify the location for saving or storing resulting image file or any type of file. Then we get message like carrier processed which means we hide our data successfully behind image file.


  • We can see that our resulting file at specified location.

  • For unhiding that confidential data again we need to add to it in unhide carrier selection filed, and we need to enter our previous entered password again, then click on Unhide button to get our confidential file and specify the location to get it.


  • Whenever it done successful, we will see our confidential file in specified location

  • Open it we can see that our original confidential message.

So, we are able to successfully hide and unhide our data using OpenPuff software.
